Week #21: Jan. 23-27

*The 3rd Quarter officially begins today.  All students start with a clean slate for behavior and grades.  Let’s do things right this quarter!

**On Thursday, Jan. 26th from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. in the JHMS commons, there will be a district-wide parent night.  “Managing Adolescent Moods:  The Role of Stress, Exercise & Sleep; An Educational Forum”

Monday, 1/23:  Quiz:  Lessons 6.5-6.7.  Homework:  Read Lesson 6.8 on p. 372-375 and complete the Guided Notes.

Tuesday, 1/24:  Lesson 6.8 – Order of Operations.  Homework:  Lesson Master 6.8

Wednesday, 1/25:  Lesson 6.8 Continued.  No Homework.

Thursday, 1/26:  Lesson 6.10 – Multiplying Integers.  Homework:  Lesson Master 6.9.  *Parent Night at JHMS.

Friday, 1/27:  Lesson 6.10 Continued.  No Homework.

Week #20: Jan. 16-20

Monday, 1/16:  No School.

Tuesday, 1/17:  Lesson 6.5 – Multiplying Decimals.  Homework:  Finish Lesson Master 6.5.

Wednesday, 1/18:  Lesson 6.6 – Calculating Percents in Your Head.  Homework:  Finish Problems #1, 3, 4-16, & 24 on p. 363-364 in the math book.

Thursday, 1/19:  Lesson 6.7 – Percent of a Quantity.  Homework:  Lesson Master 6.7.

Friday, 1/20:  Students will complete a Quiz Review during class over lessons 6.5-6.7.  *If this is not finished during class on Friday, it is homework because on Monday, 1/23 there is a Quiz over Lessons 6.5-6.7!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*Friday, 1/20 is Quarterly Recognition.  Students will be having a winter carnival outside that afternoon, so they should come to school prepared to be outside for a couple of hours.  Hats, gloves, boots, snowpants, and coats are highly recommended!!!!!!!!!!!!

Week #19: Jan. 9-13

*Monday and Tuesday all students will be taking the math portion of the MAP test.  See last week’s email for the schedule.

Monday & Tuesday, 1/9 & 1/10:  MAP Test.  Homework:  Lesson 6.9 Pink Worksheet due Wednesday.  Most students will finish this during class, but some may have this for homework.

Wednesday, 1/11:  Lesson 6.9 – Multiplying Mixed Numbers.  No Homework.

Thursday, 1/12:  Lesson 6.4 – Powers (Exponents).  Homework:  Quiz Review over Lessons 6.1-6.4 & 6.9.

Friday, 1/13:  Quiz over Lessons 6.1-6.4 & 6.9.  Homework:  If not finished during class, read Lesson 6.5 on p. 355-357 and complete the guided notes.

**No School for students on Monday, 1/16, 2012.

Week #18: Jan. 3-6, 2012

Wednesday, 1/4:  Lesson 6.1 – Multiplication and Arrays.  No Homework.

Thursday, 1/5:  Lesson 6.2 – Multiplying Fractions.  Homework:  Lesson Master 6.2.

Friday, 1/6:  Multiplication and Area.  No Homework.

**On Monday, 1/9 and Tuesday, 1/10 students will be taking the MAP test during math class.  Please have students get a good night’s sleep and eat a healthy breakfast on these days.  This is their time to shine and show everyone that they have made growth.  The schedule follows: 

1st Period Class:  Monday during 1st and 2nd periods.  No math class on Tuesday.

2nd Period Class:  Tuesday during 1st and 2nd periods.  No math class on Monday.

6th Period Class:  Monday during 6th and 7th periods.  No math class on Tuesday.

7th Period Class:  Tuesday during 6th and 7th periods.  No math class on Monday.

Monday, 12/12:  Lesson 4.6 – Types of Angles.  Homework:  Finish Angle Packet if not done in class.

Tuesday, 12/13:  Lesson 4.7 – Subtracting Fractions.  Homework:  Lesson Master 4.7

Wednesday, 12/14:  Lesson 4.8 – Solving Equations with Fact Triangles.  No Homework.

Thursday, 12/15:  Lesson 4.9 – The Addition Property of Equality.  Homework:  Lesson Master 4.9.

Friday, 12/16:  Begin Review for the Chapter 4 Test.  No Homework.

Monday, 12/19:  Continue Review for the Chapter 4 Test.  Homework:  Finish the Test Review and STUDY for the Chapter 4 Test.

Tuesday, 12/20:  Chapter 4 Test.  No Homework.

Wednesday, 12/21:  Math Games during class.  No Homework.

Tuesday, 12/6:  Lesson 4.3 – The Slide Model for Integer Subtraction.  Homework:  Lesson Master 4.3

Wednesday, 12/7:  Lesson 4.4 – Fact Triangles and Related Facts.  Homework:  Quiz Review over Lessons 4.1-4.4.  Study!!

Thursday, 12/8:  Quiz over Lessons 4.1-4.4.  Homework:  Read Lesson 4.5 on p. 230-232 and complete the guided notes.

Friday, 12/9:  Lesson 4.5 – Angles and Subtraction.  No Homework!
*Make sure that students are checking PowerSchool for any missing math assignments to turn in.

Week #14: Nov. 28-Dec. 2

Monday, 11/28:  Self Test Problems #1-24 on p. 199-200 in the math book.  Homework:  Finish Self Test problems.

Tuesday, 11/29:  Chapter 3 Test Review during class.  Homework:  Practice Test to study for the Chapter 3 Test.

Wednesday, 11/30:  Chapter 3 Test in class.  Homework:  Read Lesson 4.1 on p. 208-211 and complete the guided notes paper.

Thursday, 12/1:  Lesson 4.1 – The Take Away Model for Subtraction.  Homework:  Complete Lesson Master 4.1.

Friday, 12/2:  Lesson 4.2 – The Comparison Model for Subtraction.  No Homework!

Weeks #12 & #13: Nov. 14-22

*If you will be missing any school, make sure you get your assignments from all your teachers before you go on vacation!

Monday, 11/14:  Lesson 3.5 – Measuring Angles.  Homework:  Finish the angle packet if not done in class.

Thursday, 11/10:  Quiz – Lessons 3.1-3.4.  Homework:  Read Lesson 3.5 on p. 165-168 and complete the guided notes sheet.

Friday, 11/11:  No School!

Week #9: 10/24-10/28

*The last day of the first quarter is this Friday, October 28th.  If students are missing any assignments in math, they must be turned in to me by Thursday, 10/27 to count in their grade.

Monday, 10/24:  Lesson 2.9 – Converting between fractions, decimals and percents.  Homework:  Self Test Problems #1-10 on p.130 in the math book.

Tuesday, 10/25:  Complete and Review the Self Test.  Homework:  Study for the Chapter 2 Test.

Wednesday, 10/26:  Chapter 2 Test during class.

Thursday, 10/27:  Circle Graphs.  Homework:  Lesson Master for Circle Graphs.

Friday, 10/28:  Last day of Quarter 1.  Quarterly Recognition for all eligible students.
